A short drive along Trans-Central Highway will lead you to Cebu City's new Botanical Garden Cafe, Terrazas de Flores. This is a new experience for Cebuanos and tourists alike.

Curtained cabanas for privacy |
What is unique with this place is that the garden is built similar to the rice terraces found in Benguet. When you enter Terrazas, it will leave you speechless. I can't imagine the number of hours and manpower it took to create the terraced floral garden.
Your eyes will somewhat gravitate to the top of the terraces where the Coffee shop is located but your eyes will then focus on the other elements, you will be surprised to discover new and wonderful things.

Barangay Malubog is the perfect landscape for the garden. The cool climate and high vistas form the breathtaking view that visitors would appreciate. It's situated after Barangay Busay which is famous for it's restaurants.
Terrazas de Flores showcases the indigenious flora species of Cebu. The privately-owned botanical garden is partnering with the local community in developing and maintaning the floral wonders. They are also working with the students of the University of San Carlos to care and improve the botanical garden.
The students are currently adding name tags to the different species and varities so that tourists will learn more about the floral display that they have.
I also like how in certain nooks, they've added poems and quotes. Those pieces of literature bring an air of romanticism as you walk through the garden.

The Cebu hills are alive |
Most leading cities of the world boasts of magnificent botanical gardens within their city limits. People who enjoy beautiful things take the time to go to these gardens. Parks and gardens are becoming great recreational areas for communities.
I'm happy that Cebu is in the forefront of this particular endeavor. And that the local residents are doing their part as well. It's a sustainable industry plus good for the environment.
My dad will surely love this place since he's the only one in the family who has a green thumb. I've already added this to our itinerary for their next visit to Cebu. By that time, the place will be abundant with more flowers in bloom. I definitely know that he'll enjoy the sights.

How to climb the terraces |
Terrazas de Flores has an entrance fee of 100php per person but it comes with one free round of cold or hot drink. The cafe is currently serving light snacks (sandwiches), no rice meals yet.
The place is photogenic and there will be more things that will be unveiled in the future. The owner is planning to open an interactive art gallery for professional and amatuer artists.
The botanical garden is open from 7am-8pm.
